LOUDOUN VOLUNTEER FIRE RESCUE APPARATUS

Loudoun County has a combination fire and rescue system. The volunteer companies own all but one of the operational fire and rescue stations and most of the "rolling stock," including more than 30 fire engines, more than two dozen ambulances, several ladder trucks and other specialized apparatus. A few of the stations still have no career staff. One of the stations is operated entirely by career staff. The remaining stations vary from having some career staff twelve hours per day, five days per week to having career staff supplementation twenty four hours per day.
