Seventeen volunteer fire/rescue companies operate out of 20 stations, strategically located across 517 square miles of Loudoun County. Each company operates as a chartered independent agency responsible for developing its own operational and administrative policies. Each company is responsible for securing its own funding for facilities, equipment and apparatus. Volunteers are the unpaid professionals that run these companies.
