Volunteer Benefits

Most individuals get involved with Fire and Rescue for a variety of reasons including helping others, giving back to the community, creating new bonds between team members and the community, and building leadership skills. Loudoun County also offers a variety of tangible benefits. Some benefits are granted to you immediately upon becoming a volunteer and others are based on participation.

  • Vehicle Property Tax
    Volunteers residing in Loudoun Conty may qualify to have their personal property tax significantly reduced or eliminated on one of their vehicles.
  • County/Town Vehicle Decal
    Volunteers residing in Loudoun County may qualify for a free County or Town vehicle decal on one of their vehicles.
  • Tuition Reimbursement
    Volunteers may qualify for up to $1,000 per year ($4,000 maximum) as a tuition reimbursement at an accredited school or university – even for non fire/EMS related courses.
  • College Credits
    Many colleges partner with Loudoun County Fire and Rescue to provide discounts or free credits to our operational volunteers.
  • Retirement Program
    Volunteers may receive up to $300 a month upon reaching 55 years of age (or later). 
  • Business Discounts
    Several area merchants provide discounts to members of the fire and rescue system in Loudoun County.
  • Loudoun County Credit Union
    Volunteers are eligible to join the Loudoun County Credit Union.
  • Training
    Volunteers are provided free training from basic Fire fighting and Emergency Medical Services to advanced courses such as Medic and Fire Officer.  Click here for more information about training.
